Boost your wilderness photography skills in America’s largest national park
Alaska Photography Course
Knowing how to take great photos is an important part of travel. Why? Nowadays nearly everyone has a camera on a smartphone and posts images on social media regularly. But taking attention-grabbing photos is much more than simply snapping a shot.
Whether you are an experienced photographer or a novice who wants to learn photography, I will teach you all of the skills necessary to take professional photos in a remote, rugged wilderness environment. What type of camera do you need? Any camera is appropriate for this course. I will teach you techniques for taking photos on DSLR, mirrorless, point-and-shoot and smartphone cameras.
I am partnering with St. Elias Alpine Guides to teach my annual Photography Course in the rugged, beautiful wilderness of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.

At over 13 million acres Wrangell-St. Elias is the largest national park in the United States. Despite its enormous size this national park sees very few visitors compared to other parks like Denali, Yellowstone or Yosemite. And most of the park visitors can found in or near the towns of McCarthy and Kennecott.
We will fly in a small bushplane to a remote location in the Chugach Mountains in the southcentral part of the park. Relatively few people can be found in the wilderness of Wrangell-St. Elias due to its remoteness, lack of trails and difficulty of access. That means we will have a stunning wilderness location full of mountains, glaciers and wildlife to learn new photography and wilderness skills while taking lots of stunning photos. And it’s highly likely that we won’t see another person during the 5 day trip!
See my Wrangell-St. Elias National Park travel guide on this website for more information on planning your trip to the park
