Water
WRANGELL-ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK
Alaska has the best tasting water on the planet
Glacier Water
Glacier ice forms from the accumulation of snow high on mountains of the several years. The ice never passes through any soil or pastures with livestock so the meltwater is pure and delicious. And with no pollution in the Alaska wilderness glacier water is the cleanest water you will ever find on the planet.
No Need to Filter
Wrangell-St. Elias is true wilderness. Outside of the McCarthy and Kennecott area there is no development and almost no human presence. There is no livestock and no pollution. So the water is clean and safe to drink without chemical treatment or filtering.
NOTE: DO NOT drink untreated water near McCarthy or Kennecott. Although these little towns are not heavily populated they do see a lot of tourist traffic during the summer months. Better to be safe than sorry.
DISCLAIMER: Drink from any water source at your own risk. I have been drinking untreated water in Wrangell-St. Elias for fifteen years without incident. But you are ultimately responsible for making the decision whether or not to treat or filter your water.
